Engineering & operations consultancy · programme control & reporting

Turn Chaos to Clarity.

AutoDrive/Z helps engineering, manufacturing and operations-led organisations replace disconnected spreadsheets and retrospective reporting with practical operational-control systems — connecting programme, cost, risk and supplier data so decisions happen earlier.

AutoDrive/Z

Less firefighting. More foresight. Greater control. Move from reactive reporting to clearer forward visibility and more confident decisions.

Continuous cycle · each pass sharpens the next

See how this would work for your operation.

A short conversation — no sales deck, no commitment.

The problem

Your business may have the data — but not the control.

Most organisations already collect the information. The problem is that it arrives too late, lives in too many places, and reaches the wrong meeting in the wrong format.

01

Risk surfaces too late

A supplier slip, a quality escape and a cost overrun are discussed in three separate meetings. Nobody sees the combined effect on the milestone until recovery options have narrowed.

02

Figures are disputed, not decided

Two functions, two versions of the same position. The first half hour of every review goes on agreeing the numbers, not the response.

03

Reporting is retrospective

A day of manual consolidation produces a pack that describes what happened weeks ago. By the time it lands, the cost is already booked.

04

Nobody owns the response

Exceptions sit on slides, not action lists. No owner, no date, no visible cost — so the same item reappears next review, larger and more expensive.

Service packages

Three ways to start. Stop after any stage with something useful.

Each package follows the Diagnose → Build → Embed model. Scope and deliverables agreed before work begins.

Package 01

Operational Control Diagnostic

Fixed scope · timescale agreed at kick-off

Start with one decision that matters. We assess the process, data, ownership and reporting cycle around it — and deliver a written diagnosis with costed improvement options.

  • Process map of the information flow
  • Gap analysis: where data is late, duplicated or disconnected
  • Quantified manual effort and exposure
  • Written recommendations with costed options

Useful whether or not you go further.

Package 02

Programme Intelligence Build

Scoped and quoted per organisation

We design and implement the control system, dashboard, workflow or application identified in the diagnostic — shaped around your systems, not a generic template.

  • Data model, integrations and validated extract
  • Dashboards, reports or bespoke application
  • Workflow automation and approval routing
  • User training and documentation

Ownership, licensing and IP arrangements are defined in the engagement proposal.

Package 03

Embedded Improvement Support

Ongoing · monthly or quarterly

After the build, we stay close enough to measure adoption, improve data quality, extend the system where the value is clear — and transfer capability so you don’t need us long term.

  • Governance, data-quality improvement and adoption tracking
  • System extensions based on evidence, not scope creep
  • Capability transfer to your team
  • Monthly reporting on decision quality and system value

Optional. The goal is that you don’t need it.

How we work

From first conversation to operational foresight.

Every engagement follows the same path. Scroll through to see what happens at each stage — and why it matters.

01

Discover

We visit, listen, and map your operation end to end

Before any software, we spend time on your site — or on a call — asking questions across every function, from order entry to final delivery. We map each workflow, each handoff, each decision point.

What we find

Manual consolidation absorbing days of operational time. The same data re-keyed into three systems. Approval chains running through email. Reports rebuilt from scratch every month. Dead time between handoffs nobody has measured.

What we map

Every process from start to delivery — who does what, where the information comes from, where it breaks, where time disappears. We identify what to automate, what to improve, and what to remove entirely.

A written map of your operation with clear recommendations — useful whether or not you go further.

02

Automate

From scattered exports to a single validated source

Once we understand how data actually moves through the business, we connect to your existing systems and eliminate the manual work.

The problem

Data lives in spreadsheets, shared drives, email attachments and disconnected ERP exports. Every function has its own version. Nobody trusts the numbers — so they rebuild them by hand before every meeting.

What we do

Connect read-only to your existing systems — ERP, supplier books, quality records, shared drives. Each extract is validated and reconciled before it reaches a screen. Adapted to your data systems, not a generic template.

One validated source of live data, visible across the business. No manual consolidation.

03

Monitor

From function-by-function silos to one operational view

With clean data flowing, we build the views that let the team see cause and effect — not isolated metrics in separate meetings.

The problem

Each function tracks its own metrics in its own system. A supplier slip, a quality exception and a cost overrun are discussed in three separate meetings — nobody sees the combined effect on the milestone.

What we do

Build a cross-functional view that links delivery, risk, cost, supplier and quality signals. Movement in one dimension shows up against the others — so the team sees cause and effect, not isolated metrics.

One operational view used daily by the whole team. Problems visible in context, not in isolation.

04

Plan and act

From slides to owned actions with visible cost

Visibility without ownership changes nothing. We make sure every risk, exception and action has someone responsible — with a date and a cost attached.

The problem

Exceptions sit on slides, not action lists. No owner, no due date, no visible cost — so the same item reappears next review, larger and more expensive. Meetings confirm problems rather than decide responses.

What we do

Every exception gets an owner, a mitigation and a date. Actions are tracked against their financial impact. Review packs build from current data — the team walks in and decides, because the figures are already agreed.

Meetings decide instead of confirm. Every action has an owner and a deadline.

05

Drive success

From firefighting to protecting margin and delivery

The system is live, the team is using it — now we measure whether it actually improved the outcome, and extend only where the value is clear.

The problem

Margin erodes without anyone seeing it until month end. Delivery confidence is based on gut feel, not data. Success is measured after the fact — by then, the cost of failure is already locked in.

What we do

Track delivery confidence against financial exposure in real time. Measure whether interventions actually improved the outcome. Extend only where the value is clear — no transformation programme, just evidence-led improvement.

Margin protected. Delivery confidence measured, not assumed. Results you can point to.

Client outcomes

What clients gain — not what we sell.

Outcomes from previous engagements, labelled honestly. None guaranteed — every organisation is different.

Earlier visibility
Weeks, not months

Risk, cost and supplier signals connected and visible while there is still room to act — not discovered at month end.

Reporting effort
2 days → 2 hours

Monthly operating pack generated from validated, current data instead of reconciled by hand. Previous programme outcome

Decision quality
Confirm → decide

Meetings that used to confirm problems now decide responses — because the figures are already agreed before the meeting starts.

Ownership
Slide → action

Every exception has an owner, a mitigation, a cost and a date. Nothing sits unowned between reviews.

Why AutoDrive/Z

Not a software product. Not just recommendations.

AutoDrive/Z is a consultancy that also implements. You get the diagnosis, the build, and the capability transfer — not a report and a recommendation to buy something.

What we are not

Common alternatives
  • A software vendor selling licences
  • A large consultancy delivering a transformation programme
  • A contractor who builds what they are told
  • A dashboard agency working from a template

What we are

AutoDrive/Z
  • Consultancy plus hands-on implementation
  • Engineering credibility — the conversation holds up with engineers and the board
  • Bespoke to your operating model, not adapted from a template
  • Capability transfer — you keep the deliverables, the source and the knowledge
No recurring licence

Our standard model is full ownership of what we build — no subscription and no per-seat fees. Specific terms are confirmed in the engagement proposal.

Process before software

Every engagement starts with understanding how information actually moves — the tool is shaped around the answer.

Designed to leave

The goal is that you do not need ongoing support. If you do, it is optional and month-to-month.

How it works

Start with one decision. Extend only where it pays.

No transformation programme. No twelve-month roadmap before anything ships. A clear first step, a scoped deliverable, and evidence before the next commitment.

Step 01

Short conversation

You tell us which decision is hardest to make confidently. We listen, ask questions, and confirm whether we can help. No sales deck.

Step 02

Diagnostic

A fixed-scope review of the process, data and reporting around that decision. Delivered in writing with costed options. Useful on its own.

Step 03

Build and embed

If the diagnostic shows clear value, we scope and deliver the system. You approve before we start. You own everything we build.

Common questions

Commercial clarity.

What does it cost?

The diagnostic is fixed-price, agreed before work starts. Build projects are scoped and quoted individually. Ongoing support is month-to-month with no minimum term.

Do you charge per user or per seat?

No. You pay for the work, not for using what we built. No recurring licence fees.

What systems do you work with?

We read from your existing systems — ERP, shared drives, supplier portals, quality records. We never write back. The specific integration is agreed during scoping.

Do we need to change our ERP?

No. Your ERP stays. We layer read-only intelligence over it. Nothing is modified in the source system.

Who owns the deliverables?

You do. Dashboards, data models, documentation, source files — all yours. No lock-in, no proprietary platform.

What if we just need the diagnostic?

That is a complete deliverable. Many clients start and stop there. The recommendations are useful whether or not you go further with us.

Credentials

Programme-led. Operations-focused. Technology-enabled.

AutoDrive/Z is built on hands-on experience across project management, engineering operations, process improvement and commercial delivery. The systems are designed around how work actually moves through an organisation — not around a generic software product.

The process

How we work

Every engagement follows the same three-stage model — scoped to the size of the problem, not a predetermined package.

Stage 01

Assess

Map one decision-critical information flow. Find where data breaks, duplicates or arrives too late to act on. Deliver improvement options with indicative costs in writing.

Stage 02

Build

Design the improved process, control model and measures. Build the integrations, workflows, dashboards or application around your existing systems.

Stage 03

Embed

Deploy into the real operating environment. Measure adoption and decision quality. Extend only where the value is clear.

Background

The conversation starts with your process, not a product demo — and holds up with programme managers, operations leads, commercial teams and the board.

  • Programme and commercial ownership on complex engineering and operational deliveries
  • Cross-functional team leadership across ten-function IPTs
  • Process improvement across engineering, commercial, procurement, production, quality and commissioning
  • Reporting and control systems built because the existing ones didn’t answer the question

Sectors

Project-driven businesses where delivery, cost and quality must hold at once.

Approach

Nothing here was designed until someone had spent a fortnight on a shop floor with a notebook. The process comes before the software — every engagement starts with understanding how information actually moves through the business, where it breaks, and what it costs when it arrives too late.

AutoDrive/Z exists because the systems these programmes needed didn’t exist — and the ones that did were designed for a different problem. Every solution is shaped around one organisation’s operating model, not adapted from a template.

Operational control review

Start with the decision you cannot currently make confidently.

Tell us where information is late, disputed or disconnected. The first step is always the process, not the software.

  • Map one decision-critical information flow
  • Identify where data is late, duplicated or disconnected
  • Quantify the manual reporting effort
  • Clarify ownership and response deadlines
  • Deliver improvement options with indicative costs in writing
  • Scope and price agreed before work starts — useful whether or not you go further
